There's no support for non-personal accounts on G+ right now. But anyways, yes, I don't see much point in having a polycount presence on social networks. You'll just get the same content and it puts the precious forum ecosystem at risk! Social networks already killed off most forums; they're like an endangered species. :)…
Just a thought, not sure if it has been talked about before or not. feel free to ignore this if it has. Why no polycount on facebook or google+ ??? i think it would be nice to maybe see some showcases or contests etc. roll by on social networks... would it take traffic away from the forums?

Groups serve no purpose, especially for the likes of Polycount. As Pior said, the forum is already a social hub, why expand it more? If people are skilled and determined enough to learn and be better, they will come here on their own search.
