Hi I've created a material with a flipbook on the normal to simulate ripples from raindrops ... it still a work in progress, but I'm having real problems with a seam along the tiling edge. I've checked and double-checked the normal map itself and I'm 100% certain my frames tile ok. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this? pic…
Well, when you know that mirrored geometry with overlapped normal make seams to be visible in Unreal Engine, I'm not surpised to view the seams on you animated mat. Can we see a little your material setup ?
checked the address settings in the texture properties, it was set to wrap ... setting it to clamp has no effect however ... annoying as hell, otherwise I'm happy with the rain settings I've got (its quite light compared to a lot of tutorials and so on ...) I used smesh crossplanes for the rain, was dubious about it…
edit: updated link so it actually works this time ... no answers on epics forums, I've tried different compression methods for normal maps, and nocompression etc. really annoying because the effect is quite good otherwise...
thanks for the responses, and sorry for not getting back, I've been away from the pc :¬( The ground geometry in this case is just bsp, so I don't think it can be the problem What do you mean by UV0 for the normal map? The compression settings? I'll check the tiling mode and let you know what its set to ... cheers
