This sounds familiar... I just installed Nvidia 266.58 a day or so ago. I was using 198 or something like that previously. When I start up my PC and Vista starts to load it gets to the horizontal animated bar thing then goes black for a while. Sometimes it makes it to the log in screen but the resolution is set to built in… -
Computer issue, any ideas?
My new(!) computer is staring to fuck up. When i start it the screens doesn't get any signal from my graphics card and it's always at the same point in the startup process. I've tested all the different drivers there is and the only difference i get is that on the 256 driver, the screen turns black, and on the 266 driver… -

Could be the power supply. Either it doesn't have enough wattage or its starting to die. Try unplugging anything unnecessary, other hard drives, DVD drive etc... and see if that changes anything. Windows may have logged a error during the freeze that could be helpful. Look in the Event viewer for any messages with red… -

Nothing. It's just the kernel power somethig something that shows up. And that's cause i need to hard boot it when it freezes. Like xenoBond said, this is a 460 problem. RMA the 460 I had this happen to my first 460. All is good now. They ran me through a number of steps for uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, but when I confirmed that didn't happen, that puppy had to go. It's not your fault... just keep telling yourself that.
