I was hoping somebody might be able to help me with this. In Unity I have character "A" at 4000 tris and when "A" uses a diffuse material, the tri count doubles to 8k- 2 draws- Then each time I add a point light it draws the character again, 12k, 16k, etc... Unless you use deferred lighting path, which will allow you to have many times more lights with the same number of draw calls, but deferred shading is slow or unavailable on older gpu's.
