3dsmax object isolation mode
Does anyone know of a plugin or script that makes the alt+q isolation mode not terrible? I want something light weight I can rapidly flick on and off without max forcing me out of sub-object mode and re framing my view. Basically it should work just like 'hide unselected' but with the ability to toggle. -

The only issue with that is I don't want it to unhide all. Like the isolation mode toggle in max I want to to go back to whatever arbitrary set of object was hidden/visible. -

Yeah, scriptspot is awesome. Also, if you're really serious about learning, I've been watching the CG Academy Maxscript Fundamentals DVDs. They're very well done. -

You can script this. You just need to iterate through the layer set and object set and store the initial visibility values. Then turn everything off except for the selection. Then you can set all of the original values back when the script is toggled again. It's a little more in-depth though, if you're not comfortable with… -

Did you try macroscript? Easy to toggle between Hide Unselected and Unhide All. -

I have been using Alexander Kramer's Script package called "Track Tools", it's pretty neat. It maintains the sub-object selection.The shortcut works as a toggle rather than the usual max isolate button. You can find it here : http://3d-kstudio.com/download/ -

I have been using max since 2.5 and I still don't know max script. Probably time to learn it.
