Is there any way to display normal maps and the like in Nitrous at the moment? I actually feel that it's quite a bit faster on heavy scenes than the previous Direct3D display driver, but the inability to display content for real time engines is just a numbingly stupid oversight on the part of autodesk..
Blame Autodesk for that one. I have the same problem on my PC (red wireframe in 64bit Max 2008 ), but it runs in the 32bit Max 2008. So try that. More stable shadows is one reason to upgrade to version 2009, though I can't think of many more ;)
Just found out we are on the frontpage of the area autodesk :D http://area.autodesk.com/ @Ace-Angel : I would be happy if I could help. You can always email me with questions. When we release the code and had the chance to look at the code. Let me know if you need more comments in the code or not.
hey hellkt, I hope it works, it should i think. And yeah the URL was due :) MR_Verkerk: that is Autodesk playing up again. They let some DirectX shader functionality deteriorate in Max 2010; e.g. how it forgets the lights when you reopen the file. Your problem fits in the same category. Good news is they fixed it in 2011.
I gotta ask, as someone who doesn't know much about that stuff, but isn't that Autodesk fix kinda counter-productive? What I mean is, I use these shaders as a preview for what my stuff will look like once it's imported into an engine. Say Unreal for example. So if I apply this fix, I may go around thinking that my stuff…
This sounds great! Love the new site. I just tried 1.5 though, and I get this error in the Material Editor : error X4550: maximum boolean register index exceeded - Try reducing number of constant branches, take bools out of structs/arrays or move them to the start of the struct C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max…
SpeCter: strange, I found pretty much no difference between Max 2008 and 2009 after working with them both, except for the problem you have. I'd switch to 2009 if I were you. Unleashed: I'd expect a 4000 series to work, but even those don't seem safe. Try updating drivers, or using alternative drivers like DNa or Omega.…
