Isn´t Valve using Softimage since the development of HL2? Maybe they also use Softimage Face Robot for animating the face. I would like to know if the face animation is made by hand or motion captured before it was imported into the engine. This kind of animtion seems to be much more advanced than the morph targets that…

Sourceengines facial animation and nice eye materials were used VERY well in bloodlines, and I've yet to see more games do it that well, except for TF2 now
