I added a dialog which optionally lets you use fixed distances for the outer vertices, a distance of 0 will use regular projection length for those as well (as default). EDIT: did a new version 0.8 size of edge series affects outcome for 1 edge it is turned to a loop of 3 edges, and then modified for 2 edges, simple…
thomasp, make sure your edge selections form a single "line", the message will come if you have Y or more dimensional junctions within an edge collection glad it's useful
hi, thanks for the replies. i've read the tutorial and tried selecting the edges but when i run the script nothing happens. to 'run' the script i downloaded the text, opened the maxscript window and pasted in the code, then saved as new script. i then select my edges, run script (i.e. click on 'Maxscript' menu and then on…
first connect, then the script select edges as seen in the gif (each series must have lenght of 3 edges), and run the script. With the dialog version you can change the distance to outer endpoints. (just interactively move the spinner with dragged mouse)
I could easily write the MEL for it. But I don't really see what it does. CB? Looks like it takes an edge selection, anchors the end points, and moves the internal points to be linear with the ends? What length does it try to maintain, or is it a projection of the point onto the linear edge?
I have a question, I understand this is great for cleanup, but whenever I want to do something similar to this, I can get it to work right utilizing constrain to edge, or operations that slide things along the edge axis. Is there a situation where you cannot have it constructed correctly, and this script is the only way to…
A little delayed birthday present for Per, on whose request this script was done. It allows straigthening of connected edge selections the gif illustrates the use paired with regular ring selection + insetting polys script is over at my page or at scriptspot http://crazybutcher.cottages.polycount.com/code/_3dsmax.html…
Ok, finally remembered to email it home, I had to tear it out from my main polytools, as there was probably some work related stuff in there. http://www.members.shaw.ca/whargoul/CRstraightenEdges.mel call "CRstraightenEdges" to bring up a window. Select a single edge loop, and click the button to straighten it. Slider from…
I wrote it up today at lunch, but forgot to send it home. I also wanted to get it to work on a series of edge lines (rather than 1 at a time like mine does now) so you could ring select the entire inset and do it in one go.
