   AFAIk Japan is not allowed to build nukes though they are probably allowed to have US nukes stationed on their territory.

   only it could cause Japan to start developing nukes, and then there's India which is next to Pakistan which is next to Afghanistan, which is next to Iran... alarmist maybe but you should think what the consequences could be. it is a big deal but really i'm not too worried at the moment either. they can't hit Kentucky yet…

   Wait for independent confirmation. This thing started smelling like a shell game yesterday with lots of bluffing going on. Nukes, particularly underground ones give off tectonic signatures. If they tested, then there will be readings.

   this is nothing more than a confirmation of what we already knew. they are just hoping to get more negotiation power and economic help by showing off their weapons. fortunately, their nuke is probably around 100 tons and they don't have a missile that can transport 100 tons.

   The funny thing is the current government in N. Korea is more than likely all bark and no bite. But the sanctions the US is pushing for would destabilize N Korea so much that it would collapse and then we have nukes up for grabs. A perfect example of the current presidents monkey hand trap mentality.
