I'm there right now - no, really. I work at Island Studios, the Island's movie studio, for a company which used to make TV animation and now does modelling/animation for games companies. People from the Island are called Manx, and my first initial is G, hence G-manx.
OMG H4x http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=5005 SO WHO's GOING??? I say we all just pack up and go to the ISLAND OF MAN!!! Make it into the GAMEDEVELOPERS COUNTRY!!!
I know Halloween is right around the corner but do we really need to go digging up dead threads? /me ducks as Harl tosses a molitove cocktail on this thread and laughs as it burns.
.....nope definitely IOM!!!! Check the new TT superbikes game out soon, the course is pretty accurately modelled. That little island you can see in the gamasutra article is called 'the calf of man' and is an uninhabited bird sanctuary. It's only about a quarter of a mile across.
Cool Gmanx. For everyone that doesn't realise it, The isle of Man is an island internationally famous for its annual motorcycle race http://www.iomtt.com/ so no, it aint that silly little patch of land in the gamasutra shot. How's the weather Gmanx?! I would actually consider this the more I think about it and the more I…
at least spell it right... it's ISLE OF MAN. Not ISLAND. YAAAARGH. What I found most hiliarious about the news post on Gamasutra is the title "ISLE OF MAN LOOKING FOR GAME DEVELOPMENT COMPANIES" and a picture of a totally blank and empty island next to it....
There is a games company over here, which I do a lot of graphics work for - and some modelling/texturing, they're called Inca Gold, and I bet no-one here ever heard of them. They're a low budget outfit, but they have big plans.
The Isle Of Man is not part of the UK, or the EU for that matter, though it does commission the UK government to represent it internationally and handle its defence. This page will explain more about the politics of the island.
