I realized while working on Overwatch that ever since Quixel Suite died off, there hasn’t been a good way to paint normals or generate normal/AO/cavity maps inside of Photoshop. Blizzard had their own tools for doing so but there hasn’t been a publicly available…
Sounds great but I have no idea how to do it. Does Photoshop support sbsars? I tried looking it up and all I could find was a plugin that seems to be discontinued. Unfortunately not. These are UXP extensions which are only supported from CC22 onwards. Porting them to the older CEP format would require a full rewrite.
No it's not a pluing. Adobe made "material" panel few years ago where you could load sbsar. it reads a layer as rgba input. Makes it into smart object and put live sbsar processing on top of it. So far I use height to normal map ,height to smooth curvature and height to AO "materials" It works best if you document follows…
