Hello, I'm working on an aftermarket MPX SBR rifle model for a video game. I've started to create the high-poly barrel of the gun, of which has very small threading inside. I wanted to include this detail on the high-poly rather than try to create it using normal maps, but I've encountered a problem I have never had…
Duplicate your original model. Dynamesh it at 4k. Subdivide it, probably just once. Do a "project all" to capture the clean details from your original. Alternatively, store a point in the history of your mesh by ctrl+clicking the timeline. Then dynamesh, dubdivide then "project history".
Dynamesh is scale dependent, so scaling up your model before dynameshing will give you a more detailed result. Having said that, I think you've got plenty of detail for something so small. Assuming your texel density is something appropriate, you won't see any difference.
What are you trying todo with this part? Maybe there is an other way without dynamesh? Those elements are really small. Are you sure that the normalmap will capture the details?
