Maya 2017 and 2016 wont open up file, fatal error and then crashes. Need help.
I really have no idea why or how it happened. Both files where working before perfectly fine, It seems it may have been that the day I had saved them was the same day and something was off to cause these non-related Maya projects to both become like this. If needed be I can post the files, I know nothing of mel, python or… -

Is the file very big? I could hit it with a stick (or a hex editor) and maybe knock out enough garbage to get the files to load. -

When maya "properly" crashes, it creates a .ma file in your system temp folder, does it get that far? -

Oh my goodness, your amazing, But alas the file is quite large. Ive jut reverted to an older file (i didnt check this thread quick enough) thank you for the help though :) -

No it does not, its only doing this to a few files that all happened to be saved on the same day. All other files are fine, but those dont save to a temp. -

You may be able to salvage some of the file by importing it into fresh scene.
