That script is very lovely! But still, the stock Mirror function can be set to cut geometry & merge, which gives you a handle to drag the slice plane. -

What I would do is delete the half I don't want, and duplicate (as an instance) the half I do want, and scale it -1 in the direction I want it mirrored.
