Not only do I love seeing your process on this, but I'm glad to see you're pushing this even further! I do have to agree with @"Eric Chadwick" and his .gif comparison. The green lighting on the main pirate really helps him pop, and with all the detail you put on him it's a shame for him to not be noticed first. Great work…
