Having watched Scott Robertson, Feng Zhu Gnomon DVDs and being a 3D Modeler for some years myself, I have to say that Feng Zhu puts it very simply done on how to sketch environments. Gotta check out Gnomon man. There are the videos from Syd Mead and Feng where they both use traditional mediums . Early gnomon dvds can be found in the subscription too.
