I'm trying to get Maya to export an animation (via the FBX_DAE export plugin), but when I re-import the DAE file back into maya, none of the animation is preserved. I also tried exporting the animation as FBX, and loading it into the autodesk FBX viewer to convert it from FBX to DAE, and got the same result. When I load…
I had no problems exporting animated collada with the autodesk plugin. Did you try the bake animation setting in the exporter, since your joints are animated indirectly?
I did, yes. The problem is I don't know if the animation isn't exporting, or if it isn't importing. I'm trying to find another application that views collada animations so I can confirm the export worked correctly.
The horrible mess of the Khronos group's website has hidden all of the newer versions of their Maya plugins not on the very-visible-to-Google github but their very-hard-to-find Dropbox. If anyone in the future has the same problem, the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Collada/DAE plugins for Maya are here…
Doesn't seem to be there anymore. Dropbox says the file has been moved. Where can I find this plugin? I can't see any DAE-FBX -plugin in the Plug-in manager.
