The light cones are coming from the emissives of the effect. I'll probably tone it down a notch,so it doesn't effect the camera so much. I'll get back on the basics to see what improvements I can make!
Thanks Julien! I'll definitely change up the speeds for more of a break-up of motion. On top of your critiques, I'm probably going to resim my fire again and see where that gets me. Scorch marks will come at the end and I might play with timing more.
I would simplify things a bit more to begin with. Don't add volumetric light (I guess that's what the light cones are?) etc. Just start with the general motion and shape of the effect, then add more bells and whistles as you go along.
