You get out what you put in. I started teaching myself back in 1998, when I was working as a glass cutter. I worked 12hr days, after which I'd come home and spend 3-4hrs doing artwork, reading art books and conversing with other artists. Do you work overtime? then no. Book time off work and savor the weekends. if not, then even 9hrs a day, with 2 hrs commute, you can probably squeeze in an hour every other day. I saw Fausto De Martini give a presentation once where he mentioned he was working on his portfolio work for something like ~6 hours after working a full time job every day before getting his job at Blizzard. Most pros have similar stories. My thoughts... most people have way more time that they waste than they realize.… -
