Something silly I did over the weekend to refresh myself on using Blender: I was originally going to do a 128 challenge (128 tris, 128x128 texture) but realised pretty quick that 128 is insanely low, Goofy would have become a Minecraft skin. Bumped it up to a limit of 256 tris and that was still tricky. Texture was done by…
This is a bark texture for the project I'm working on, it went through quite a few revisions before getting to this stage though. Also hard to find examples of good handpainted bark textures.
For some reason I had the urge to chuck this pig head into 3D coat and make a better texture, so I did. It was an enjoyable couple hours. Sketchfab viewer and texture can be found on my artstation.
Finally finished texturing the pig chunks so here they are. Can't help but feel I spent too much time on something that really isn't going to be very important in the game. And here's the texture: The real trick will be slipping this into something that is supposed to be PG-13...
Thanks dawg, as I said in an earlier post Jamin Shoulet did a pretty good video on handpainted textures, and in the first vertex magazine there is a tutorial that I really like - that should give you the basics to get started. It helps to look at games with nice textures/style and try to emulate those. Just start with…
I think this is the almost final farmer's hut that I textured (not my model, but based on my concept). At this stage I'm thinking I put more detail in the textures than necessary... Anyway, it is soon to be put in engine and colours will be finalised. I have spent far too long on this.
So thought I'd post my final assignment for my course, it's just a pretty simple 1000-tri character with diffuse-only textures. It's supposed to be a serial killer themed version of myself, though needs murder instruments to complete the effect. The body and head have separate 256 textures, and were painted mostly in…
