For a project I need an animated skin, a walking woman in 3D (UDK lowpoly). If I have images like this is that enough for a skin artist to create it as 3d model? (its just an example I found at DeviantArt) Do I need two images (front/back) or also the side-image?
You need to contract a 3d character artist. They will study the concept art you provided, create a 3d model that can be animated, and create a texture for it that is similar to the concept art. But the model's "skin" texture has to be a new creation, the 3d artist cannot simply use the existing concept art on the 3d model.…
Okay, Thanks. As I understood even if the textures are provided they cant be wrapped around a typical (already existing) character 3d shape, there is still something missing. How do I have to approach this? Lets say the base idea and 2D textures have to be provided by an 2D-painter.
Skin artist? That's a throw back If you're asking if you need a complete front/rear/side view orthographic view sheet for a character artist to model the character then the answer is no not really unless there's something important there. Just keep in mind anything the artist can't see, they have to invent themselves.
