tip: Try getting all your hatch strokes to follow the implied contour of the shape - It'll do miracles for the three-dimensionality. I'll dig through some drawings and see if i can find an example... *edit* bingo. went through some of my old sketchbook scans. Methinks it would be a fun tutorial to make though...
