IC.Shape has brush-based tools, but i'm pretty sure it's not what you're looking for.. And don't the Graphite Tools allow you to sketch edge flow? Thought there was such a tool for retopologizing.. -

Cool, thanks for the suggestions :) Ill try these two out and who knows, they might have useful stuff too :) I've been trying to find fast ways to hack shapes together lately (disregarding clean topology) - it's an interesting facet of 3D to explore... -

So you're looking for something similar to the cut tool but instead of point,click,point,click you just want to draw and it cuts, without all of the clicking? If so, interesting idea but I don't think I've seen anything like that before, but it sounds interesting if you find it, post it, I want to check it out! Or did you… -

Ooooh SyncViews, that might very well be it!! Trying out all these tools is going to make for a great nerdy-artsy weekend :D Also, I'm using Max 2009 exclusively so if it works on that version of Max I'd love to give the old IllusionCatalyst a try! -

By the way - the reason why I am looking for it is because I want to find a way to freely hand-draw edges on the surface of a model - like one would do with a pencil on a physical object, without having to worry about the underlying messy topology. Basically the cut tool is okay at that but could be better. Anything… -

Hi Mark, The Draw tool of IC.Shape was working like the first case you're describing. I retired IllusionCatalyst because it isn't working in most recent version of 3ds Max. If there is interest in this particular tool, I might try to make it standalone. EDIT: I dug up a demo video of the Draw tool from IC.Shape 2.0
