Wow. Thank you so much for the lengthy and informative feedback. Good to know those links did work in the end. :D It might take me a while to fully process and understand some of it. ^^; I'll try and go over everything I'm a bit unsure about. I was a bit unsure whether or not to modify the purse strings. I didn't want to…
By the way, I forgot to mention my animation/dissertation is focussed on mise-en-scene or the 'totality of cinematic moment'. basically it involves study of how every visual element is arranged on screen and what meanings this can imply. If any of you have any knowledge of mise-en-scene Id be glad to hear it, thanks! KDR:…
Thanks for the in-depth response! You've just given me a lot of new terms to google. In terms of my texture sizes, the tiling grass and dirt textures in the last post (and the end-goal) is 512 each, and probably 512 for the mask as well. I'm basing my game on the similar concept of the Zelda Links Awakening switch remake…
Since I'm off of work now, I thought I'd start on something to round out my portfolio. This is a full environment based on a concept by Airtight for Dark Void: Here is the actual ingame screen of this environment. (sorry, its a picture of my tv... ugh.: It looks like they went a way different direction from the concept to…

"Without it, dark edges around the hole were visible on the normal map." Just for the record, the normal map should show color changes (if there is smoothing to counteract). Obviously, it has an easier job when the smoothing is more uniform. The mesh you use for baking (generally) should be the mesh you export, at least in…
For env stuff, tweaking normals (with various scripts that align normals to face selections etc, or with weighted normals) is great to keep your textures modular. You can bake out a key piece piece with a fairly complex lowpoly, and still end up being able to use the baked normal map on modular stuff if necessary because…
A couple ways. If you want to do manual changes to each loop, then duplicate the last two keyframes (memory's a bit hazy, but it could be simply select them and shift-drag), as many times as desired, then edit however you like. The out-of-range type will cause it to keep looping after the end of the track. If you want to…
I managed to fix it!! After a lot more digging, the issue ended up being that the stems that weren't showing up was on another UV set and marmoset was reading the top UV set / default UV set instead of the other one, so I combined my UV sets in Maya. Thank you so much for your time and help! I hope this forum helps others…
