Hi guys, I'm currently studying game art and recently completed a character for a group work game in our course. The art style was meant to be cutesy and fun, textures were to be simple and flat, and we needed a flying character, so I concepted up this little fatty After being given the go ahead, I sculpted & polypainted…
Yeah i like that one also, trying hard ova here to do something i guess just for myself now. I got volumetrics working on my end took a bit of configuring, all trial & error, still lots to do for my pleasure but for now at least its an update getting closer. and the better quality video on the folio post @ bottom of all…
Edit: Newest... Unless there's any substancial critique, I'm calling this done :) For this one I leaned heavily on booleans and modifier stacks, making it much quicker and easier to decide upon how many sides I wanted on my lowpoly, and to get a solid base for the subdivision. I introduced myself to toolbag baker which…
Post: Hello! I’m working on Pokémon Lunacore, a fan-made Pokémon MMO set in a unique region inspired by California. The game features an original story where Team Midnight captures a corrupted Victini, a Dark/Electric-type Pokémon, to experiment on it. The experiment goes wrong, putting Victini into a deep slumber.…
As far as I know it's not possible to paint multiple images at once. It seems to be a limitation of Blender, and while I found a couple of very old add-ons that seem to have been maybe able to paint across images they fell out of support a long time ago so I can't even confirm if whether someone found a way or not. The…
Originally, I wanted to finish the entire project before posting it on ArtStation. I was aiming for a big, complex, and highly detailed piece. I’ve always had this idea in my head that only "big and serious" works deserve praise, but I realized that mindset needs to change. So I thought, why wait? Some of the objects…
IMO making scanned textures tiled is better to do manually in Zbrush or photoshop . Same for roughness. Based on Adobe Sampler its a waste of efforts. More lacking tools is de-lighting , especially extracting albedo from sun shadowed images . I yet have to see something working as good as those special flash lights that…
Ah yeah AO is only affected by image based lighting (usually using a diffusely-convolved cube map and/or spherical harmonics). Can you add an IBL? Would really help to simulate nice bounce lighting. As it is, your shadows are all very very black.
What are the best places to get textures for your game assets? Does anybody use textures images from photos anymore or is it mostly substance painter and photogrammetry these days? What about retro style ps1 graphics? I miss when texture.com was free and now requires a subscription to get textures.
Substance Designer and Painter don't have anything to imagine height from regular image . Sampler does but it does it so awful it's almost an advertising gimmick IMO, very blurry unspecific height often totally wrong. The only thing Sampler good is de-lighting ambient shadows . What would really be helpful is image…
