Hand painted texture crit
Hey everyone I'm trying to learn different types of materials to hand paint. So far I have been trying to practice wood and stone. Crits would be appreciated! For my style I'm trying to go for the blizzard hand painted styles. -

Re: How do you create normal maps for hand-painted textures?
You could do the Blizzard workflow and use real geometry as your base. Bake out a bunch of different mat caps, including a normal, and then use that base to create the hand painted style. -

Haha, I definate agree about the handle! The sprockets are simply flare. I pay no attention to functionality this time. All I want is a really cartoony and stylized sword ala Blizzard or something. ^^ -

Re: Do graphics actually hinder gameplay?
I stand by Blizzard's first core value in most cases. "Gameplay first." Otherwise, we should be making a movie or a book. I can't really recall a game being hindered in gameplay because of its art though.
