Hey guys, I'm wondering if I should get a tablet, but I'm not sure which one to get. I can't spend a lot of money on it. I'd say $140 max, I could expand the budget a bit if it makes a lot of difference. I plan to use it for general doodling and sketching, concept drawing and texturing. Any ideas?

My aim was to create a next-gen doorway, something you might find in Unreal 3. I made a height map (bottom left image)so I could run it through the Nvidia normal map filter in photoshop to create the normals. I also used an emissive for the security light. 3 x 1024 maps 147 triangles (82 polygons)
Got my 1.8 finally working. And trying it out on a test model. I manage to get it to look like this in Suite. Attachment not found. Love it. However, once exported to Lightwave and rendered in Octane it's a mare to get the spec and gloss (roughness it's called in Octane) to work properly. This is the closest I can get it,…
Hey Davew, there are a lot of problems with 1.8 and Photoshop CC 2015, that version of Photoshop is currently not supported. It will be supported in 2.0 though. I suggest you try installing 2014 and see if that works for you. If it does not help, drop me a pm and i will help you out !

also wouldn't how close the camera can get to the action play a factor in the texture size? Vassago's recommendations sound about right. about 512 if you're going warhammer style, maybe 128 if you're doing something similar to total annilhation or warcraft 3
I'm downloading too. did anyone see the requirements... Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets: # NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater # ATI Radeon 8500 or greater i got a 4600; hopefully it'll holdup.
Thanks for the feedback. Well after looking closer at that guy i dont think he will be an RTS unit, i'll make him into a FPS char or something later. This is my RTS character. Its 400 polys and uses a 128 texture. Texture will be up later tonight.
