Just learn to script. In the long view it's far less tedious and annoying than all the visual scripting methods, gives you more power and makes your skills more marketable. You will also be in a better position to change fields if you ever decide too.
awesome guys. thanks heaps for the help. that script from creative crash is mint !! gonna have a play with the solution passerby posted in a bit cheers EDIT. ha. dumb bastard i am. posted before i checked that script on a NON SQUARE face. . . no joy
haiddasalami: First off wicked picture :) Secondly thanks a lot! I figured the way to do it, if at all would be scripting, but unfortunately I don't know anything about scripting. But yes please let me know if you figure it out, that would be amazing. Cheers!
Well there's a max script I've seen a guy at Mythic use but I can't seem to find it, I thought it was one of Blur's. It was called Normals Thief - he created a large geosphere around his tree and the script aligned all the leaf normals to the sphere's normals.
Using the actorx plugin it is pretty painless. To make things even easier Wharghoul wrote a great script that I link to on my tutorial. http://jeffparrott.com/mayaut2k4_01.html Whargoul's script adjusts the Y Z planes and has every skeleton in there as well. Hope it helps.
Yes, I was intensely annoyed that I couldn't use any of my nifty image downloader scripts or extensions :( Also what the hell is up with the popup window title, it says "StraightPerm.com :: Hairpieces", did they steal that image viewer script off another site or something?
[ QUOTE ] The Maya scripts look like they include character tools, at least there's an mpLipSyncExport.mel. [/ QUOTE ] hehe, yeah, they also reference a plugin that isnt included with the SDK, i spent a good day going through the mel scripts line by line trying to get them to work
my first bet would be to look at script spot for some asset management script. Because one could access all used bitmap urls and copy the files to a new folder. anyway I searched the web and found:* * http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=527443
This max retopo script is damn powerful and easy to use. The coolest thing is that it uses the basic modeling tools of max (so shortcuts that we always use). No doubt I'll use this script for the retopo of my DWIV character and place it in my "essential max's tools" folder
it wasnt bad...but i felt like it's script was aimed at 7-year olds. Sure there was blood and boobs and stuff, but still, that's what it seemed to me. After I saw TMNT this last weekend I realized that even THAT script treated me like I was older.
