If you are having problem with shadows, you could try different lightmass settings. Its under the World Settings. Try this: Static lighting level scale: 0.3 Indirect lighting quality: 2 Indirect lighting smoothness: 0.6 This would affect the lightmass build time severely. But should fix any baked light errors and seams.
Just to pimp my own scripts. http://www.juantwo.com/2006/04/epolycounter-v-10.html Also, if you are just getting into low poly characters, try making one about 3K total tris. Half in the head, and half in the rest of the body. Also try keeping the polies evenly distributed in the whole model.
I believe they're cheaper, faster, run cooler and draw less power. They've also apparently got Nvidia based GFX tech built into the CPU, amongst other things. Even the lower end chip I'm eyeballin' should be a monumental jump forward over the Core2Duo E6600 I've been running since 2006.
Nice, thanks for the link, I really like Mashru's work. The first time I saw it and read that he had graduated in 2006, I was like "ah crap, he's the same age as me and hugely better!" so it's slightly reassuring to see he's 27... I have 4 years to try and catch up :)
---Project 001 welp this is my first ever post here at Polycount, hello everyone! here it goes! This is a project I have been working on a while on the side just to keep my self in shape. This was actually an art test I did for a company but decided to make it a practice lighting and texturing project- I think so far so…

super thread necromancy- hard to believe the first post was 10-07-2006 This just seemed like too much fun- painting the texture before the model was something I did a lot when I worked on DS characters. Well, bringing it back to the start- here's what I made with your green texture rooster :D
That happens because when a vertex that has NO weight painted on it automatically moves to the 000 of the world. To avoid that when painting low poly meshes (the 1 bone to 1 vertex influence) you can weight paint the desired vertex to be influenced by another joint. Maybe that helps. If you need more information I can do a…
Should get some "paint on frost" for those windows, makes for amazing lighting withthout the need of those cfl's you're using. With enough coats you could probably block around 80% of the light. http://www.ehow.com/how_6239198_apply-acrylic-paint-window-glass.html A product similar to this one should work.…
