to tell you guys the truth, i actually get much better results using an oldschool light dome setup.. there are several scripts for this.. choose the one you like the best, but for some reason i find the light dome results seem to catch the details better than the skylight.
It's called Caddie...you can turn off the moving around stuff with a script, but reverting to the old style is only possible if you replace the edit Poly part of Max with an old one (there's a thread about it somewhere in the Area)...but you'll loose the new edit Poly features tat way.
Nice! That Perna guys, his something, isn't he? I would love if someone could super-size-boost Eric's script so that it does the math for you automatically with the real Vert/Tri formula, oh lordy, that would be insane and so much more confidence boosting.
Ah okay, thanks. Are there any scripts available anywhere that add a manual alignment feature again? Update: I tried what you suggested, and it ended up looking worse. I mean, have an auto feature, sure, but I can't see the point in removing manual control?
Honestly? Just don't forget. Make it part of your workflow. Whenever I'm done with something I'll always unhide mesh elements afterwards to see if I missed something. I don't think there's any script out there that will tell you if you have hidden elements or not though.
just wanted to pop in and say 'thank you!' for sharing your script, throttlekitty...don't have a direct need for it now, but may in the future and I appreciate you being a good egg and posting it! :) If our paths cross at GDC or some such, I've got a beer with your name onnit! ;)
Thanks for that neilberard. Looks like a useful script to try! I agree that he looks a bit too clean - especially his skin (granted you are still in progress with texturing). I think maybe blotches in the spec map would help. Just love all the detail in the armor.
Blizzard's cinematics department is actually larger and apparently better equipped than pixar's so it shouldnt be a surprise. Also there is a Warcraft movie in the works, live action though. Supposed to be a trilogy. Legendary Pictures has the motion picture rights. Last I heard the script is getting a re-write.
oh got it, so by any chance know some place I can get into advance IK FK stuff without max script coding? I found few on youtube lets see what I can do with those but I doubt it would be anything close to this.
Just switched to Maya myself after years of using 3ds Max. It was really quite a painless process for me. Just read Maya's documentation and try to do what you're used to doing in Max. Check out highend3d and gumroad for awesome free and paid scripts/plugins too.
