UDK and CryEngine3 is free, Unity have free edition, and you can try out Marmoset Toolbag 2 too. The Vray render don't give back the in-game look, this is why I would suggest to render it in one of the mentioned engines. For the true next gen look, I would perefer Toolbag, CryEngine3 or UDK. They can give really good…
Most likely Toolbag, but if I have the energy I may remake the scene in Unreal. All of these progress shots are usually in Toolbag. I will add in a touch of asymmetry and will get into the skin detailing a bit later today -- I just got to take my eyes off it for a bit, be sure the basic forms are all good and without any…
Is it being affected by the light source? Check to see if the material or whatever the hell CE3 uses is accepting light source info. Also for a quick test, go ahead and download the trial for Marmoset Toolbag. http://www.8monkeylabs.com/toolbag Its about 200mb and will allow you to check out your mesh + textures in a…
You can add this material by going to the material preset dropdown and selecting Glass Simple. This method is a bit outdated though. In Toolbag 3.02, we added a refraction shader, which can be used by changing the transparency method to refraction. We don't have a tutorial for using this yet but you can see it in action…
Well, I wrote the tutorial so I'm pretty sure I know what it covers. There are sections that explains how to go both ways. http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/pbr-conversion#metaltospec http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/pbr-conversion#spectometal If after reviewing it again, you're getting caught at a specific point,…
I noticed the same. Maya says on the docs that it writes the name of the face-sets in the Alembic file. Blender also writes the names to the file, it creates face-sets based on the names of the materials that separate them. So this would be a piece of feedback: to let Toolbag load Alembic face-set names instead of using…
Hey guys, I am having this issue when I try to import an alembic file that I exported from Maya 2018 into Marmoset Toolbag 3.08. There are some frames where the model looks good, and there are others where it gets skewed. Below is how the imported alembic model looks in Maya 2018 vs Toolbag 3.08. What do you think is going…
As you can see I have these weird dark spots on my model and I don't know what's causing them. So what I did was bake the normals and ao in marmoset toolbag then combined the model in maya. Previewed the materials there again no issues then imported the model, normal and ao into substance painter and now im seeing these…
thanks guys for the feedback, I go down to one texture per object :D Decided to use Marmoset Toolbag 2.0 for quick implementation of materials than using UE4, because deadline is fast approaching ... For the meantime, I just use the Toolbag's quick material presets (I'll create my own texture maps later in the process, I'm…
You may have to click the SketchFab link to see the textures on the model. I also downloaded a trial of the new Marmoset Toolbag 2. I thought the original toolbag did an excellent job. I liked how MT 2.0 had several new tweaks in the material editor, but didn't like how the lighting presets were super dim, or blown out?…
