As already stated, you have Xoliuls shader ( not familiar with the Maya version but I absolutely love the Max shader). And Marmoset. A few things to note. They're simple but effective, apologies if you've tried these already. Firstly, are you using high-quality mode in the Maya viewport? I've always found Maya displays…
Yeah, seriously, rooster. At some point that gap becomes an insurmountable and unrealistic goal. Especially in an industry where the technology and tools are so rapidly developing and advancing. If you aren't doing this for a living, it can be quite daunting in terms of time and resources to try and keep up with those who…
Make your own iPad stylus: http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2010/04/diy_soft_iphone_and_ipad_stylus.html What's this about re-downloading songs from iTunes? They've been DRM free for quite a while. iPhone and iPad have always had multitasking.. just not 3rd party multitasking. No Flash.. okay, but imagine the BLOAT that…
Yeah times change and people forget what words mean. I guess to me (and the dictionary) "mod, modification" means something different. I don't see the terms "new game" and "mod" as interchangeable for what this person plans to do. To me mod means you take an existing game, and change it slightly, but pretty much the core…
This is a cool idea. Using Max 5.1, when I Alt-Click to remove a vertex from the spline, it kicks me out of Draw mode, and I can't re-enter the same spline. Looks like Undo isn't available yet. Would help avoid the need to Alt-click. Overall though it seems like an unweildy modeling process. It's pretty click-heavy,…
Wow thanks for the speedy replies guys. sir-knight: You've made me wonder now. I'd thought it was a good idea to go to the i7 920 as its the bottom of the new range. The price difference between that and a quad core isn't that much and i figured it'd give me a good option for upgrading when i can afford it in a year or so.…
Some more updates on the Houdini tree: High poly: Low poly (Remesh and Reduce poly nodes) FBX exported to Unreal: I think it looks nice so far. my next step is to apply some simple texture by using reality scanning, and bake out the branches.
hello John, thanks for coming here and thanks for the tool =) btw, just a hint from an unexperienced maxsdk ui coder, it's much easier and faster to do the ui work in maxscript, and control the plugin via functionpublishing. I'll try to compile for max5 and 6 (6compiled should work for all) tomorrow.
- The quickest way to make sure normals are pointing the right way is to turn "Face Orientation" on in the Geometry > Show Overlays menu of the viewport in Blender. It'll highlight anything flipped in red. I'm under the impression the original tires have flipped normals, so when you flip the mirrored tires to match them…
Hello everyone! I've been very inspired by Dannie Carlone and his zbrush+designer workflow (him and others!) that totally shows the strength of baked geometry, and that brought me back to the first thing I ever wished I had in SD: a mesh node !…
