VTOL vehicle I'm slowly working on. I started the concept in Maya and just progressed from there; picking pieces of vehicles from reference and adding them to the model. Base model, main shapes: Refining the shapes: More refined shapes; Mental Ray render:
Have to call the texture on this guy done for now and move on to the vehicle or ill never finish in time. Ill handle the transparency for his visor and polish up after I get the vehicle to at least this point. Go Go Go.
I really really like the concept but the vehicle seems heavily armored considering it's supposed to be a light vehicle. There a strong feeling of weight that could be attenuated IMHO . Anyway it's really cool to see original idea : ]
Are there even open positions like "vehicle artist" ? I always thought environment art is, level-, vehicle- and prop art .. almost everything except characters. I ask, cuz i might have the same problem with my upcoming portfolio.
[ QUOTE ] Ha, how about they "concept" some neccessities then? I'm with Ely on this one. [/ QUOTE ] Necessities? You can't be serious. This vehicle obviously isn't intended for production. Most concept vehicles don't even have an engine, let alone "necessities."
Other project images are missing, the only ones working are the iphone and the glass of water and all of the heads. The layout for the pages look fine to me. Could probably group them a little better. Vehicles with vehicles and weapons with weapons.
Just finished my second scifi vehicle work! u can find more images here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o62oJ and here: http://polycount.com/discussion/171493/transport-engine-scifi-vehicle#latest
Them's odd rust edges you got there, might want to flickr some actual references of the vehicle first. The wheels on the side are too "cylinder" like. The vehicle looks a little stretched compared to authentic ones as well.
^ Yep +1 I'd also recommend browsing through stuff made by senior industry people which basically enables access to a ton of relevant insight into all asset creation tasks for free, particularly if the artist is a vehicle specialist as well: https://80.lv/articles/vehicle-production-for-games/…
Yes. I figured with so many different vehicle designs they could not have everything unique to save resources. It's hard to tell though upon close inspection the vehicles look pretty smooth. They must be high enough poly to support the detail/shape.
