Hello polycount. This is my first post here. I'm currently working on a low-poly model of a street cleaning vehicle. This is mostly for learning, but I'm also thinking using it for a game for mobile devices. The limitation I set for myself is max. 500 tris and a 256x256 diffuse texture. The look should be…

Zbrush upgrades are still free for me, has been that way since I bought it for $299. That works out $2.50 per month. Mudbox doesn't even come close to the feature set in zbrush and the value just isn't there either. I bought Mudbox for $600, thinking I would switch over but never did. That $600 went up in smoke a few…

[ QUOTE ] I LOVE this style, Rob G. One thing you might work on in the future is how these guys will look with in-game lighting. It seems like, right now, all the lighting is painted into the texture. That's not so bad, just something to experiment with going forward. [/ QUOTE ] Who cares? In-game lighting sucks. I've…
I'm a Modo user and it's quite capable for environment art. However it sounds like money is an issue here so before going out and spending $995 on a commercial license of Modo you should really check out other alternatives. Free XSI Mod Tool is a good option if you're not working on commercial projects (a commercial…
I hate to say this but you may have lost these mesh objects. One thing is for certain though, you need to get into the habit of deleting your construction history when you work (Edit > Delete All by Type > History). This is most likely the cause of your problem. I would recommend adding Delete History as a shelf button or…
There are very few new games I look forward to these days. I do not think it is because I am getting old - I still like to fire up Unreal Tournament 1999 or Quake III once in a while and still have just as much fun with those games as I did when they were new. And I still look forward to games such as Sim City and…
Because after the lighting/rendering is done you have to convert the image from linear space to gamma space to be displayed on a monitor. If you didn't un-gamma textures stored in gamma space you would then be re-gamma'ing them at the end after rendering and they would be extremely bright. This guy from Naughty Dog covers…
