WIP-001 Blockout I added a few extra things based on the model, because I though it was super duper cool. Theres this Sarcophgus like piece in the back of the immortal, I never knew what it was for but I always thought that was a really cool design choice.
pseudo low poly I suppose, I was aiming for an in game polycount for a nextgen title which I think I maintained for the percentage of the body that's actually modeled. It has a 1024x1024 diffuse map,it's 80% self illuminated and is composed of 608 triangles. let me know what you think. feedback and critisism is appreciated.
I've been contemplating getting a new case and a widescreen flat panel monitor for my setup. What do you all have and what would you recommend for someone wanting something nice but not overly priced. (hoping to stick around $600 for both, been seeing some great refurbished deals).
Saw this on Gamespot today: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6152217/index.html Although the clock speeds are a little slower than the 7900's, the performance is almost identical, and with less power draw. Not badly priced, either. This single slot card is about $500-600. Compared to 2 7900 cards, that's nearly $400 in…
Low poly, unwrap and normal bake done :3 Gave myself a 60k tri limit as he's a big fella but came well under. Might take a break from this for a week or so before I texture/pose him. Feedback always welcome :3
Cool, he's already past his goal and 22 days more to go. Guessing he'll crack $60K. He could set up a stretch goal for 80K and he'll upgrade models with Vitaly Bulgarov's black phoenix kits: http://vitalybulgarov.com/3d-kitbash/
http://www.edharriss.com/tutorials/tutorial_subd_edge_vertex_crease_xsi/tutorial_subd_xsi_edge_vertex_crease.htm I think the only one that was using a different subdivision algorithm from the other software was modo (till 501?), Max still uses its own. Even Cinema 4D had it from the beginning with edge and vertex weight:
If you have a NVIDIA GPU that is a certain series (600 and above I believe) you can use NVIDIA Shadowplay software which I have used and has been really good in terms of quality and speed for me. It is free if you have a GPU that qualifies.
Just wanted to bump this awesome thread - working on a Cucco for Link :) Talked with Aaron about the specs and tried to go for something under 600 tris, 512 map. Still got a lot to do on it, muddy areas to clean up, add more contrast, etc. Cheers!
lol, thats my computer right now, minus the HD. if you go for a cheaper case, you might end up having to fork out another 70$ for a new PSU, to run the geforce 9800GT without a hitch. it requires at least 600 watts of power.
