You need to use a different tool. If you use the Line tool (it's right next to the Freehand Brush tool on the toolbar), it draws lines using the Brush Preset that is selected, with dynamics and all, as if you were drawing by hand. Maya Drag and Drop not working
I'm running Maya 2009 on Windows 7. I used to be able to drag and drop scenes and files from explorer into the maya window without problem, particularly multiple .obj files. Since installing win7 I just get a 'no' icon when trying to do this. Anyone encounter this and/or have a fix? -

at this stage i would recommend blocking in colour; it'll help with grouping details and getting proportions right; you can drag your concept in as a texture, apply it to a plane, then colour sample the texture (shortcut c) and go from subtool to subtool, rbg > fill -
