Not the pitfalls of padding- it was probably the importance of padding. Set a high value like 16 or 32

i raised the padding in xnormal to 16 yeah, but it has no effect on islands that are stitched together

You need a minimum of 8-16 padding for Unity last I recall for the textures.

Tried that. Also tried switching to 16 bit in photoshop before exporting. Same result. :(
