I think when it comes to professors, there's always a half story being retold by a student. When I was in school, modeling was often taught by the professor doing a real time demo. Or for teachers who did come from the industry, they personally showed us their models they had made for games/movies. There was nothing wrong…
@FrankPolygon I'm making this model as a game asset. After this hi-poly is done, I'll then build a low-poly on top of it, and use the hi-poly to bake various maps. And yeah, the model would be subdivided again, so i'm trying to do it the proper way, since my last reply i did managed to connect the parts in a not such…
Thank you everyone, I took your advice and have started redoing everything. However, the wing poses a huge problem: the shape is too sophisticated. It has a strange curve I currently know two ways of modelling it without subsurf and none of them work out. I can make the airfoil shape first from the side view, then make the…
IMO people really need to get on the OpenSubdiv train. It's a far superior way to model hardsurface assets that allows you to still utilize support edges if necessary, while reducing complexity overall and being much quicker to work with. It also gets you in the habit of modeling clean and uniform topology that is easier…
Hi guys, been banging my head against the wall for several hours today (total newb, this is the most complex thing I've modeled yet) How would you guys go about modeling this shape? I've created a cylinder, and used a boolean subtraction using rectangles to cut out the empty space. This model will be used for a lot of…
Try finishing thr rest of the model and leave these small details for the end. You could collapse 1 turbosmooth and use those extra polies to add dthat detail
Thanks for the reply guys. Perna, I did considered the idea but thought that trying to draw it out would take me just as long as modelling would with lesser results.
???? bear with the 'paint' paint over, haven't installed anything on windows 7 yet. I don't have that much experience with sub-d modelling so this is only a guess :)
