Fill the background on your normal map textures with R=128, G=128, B=255. The black can cause problems with mip mapping in game. -

I thought dpi was just something relevant for printing? If your not gonna print it, it dont matter, all that matters is the resolution(512, 256, 1024 etc). -

256 seems low to me but to each his own. I do think that cutting it up will cause issues if it was in UT3 like visible seams and stuff. -

Damn it! How come you can make something look so good with just under 1000 tris and 256 diffuse maps? I love it.
