Too blobby. Classic Zbrush-itis. It happens to everyone. Just keep in mind, armor isn't blobby normally, and try to sharpen some edges. The planar, pinch, and flatten tools are your friends.
Are your rocks based off of Orb's work? If so, pretty solid start! I think with some pinch and TrimDynamic brush work, these could turn out pretty awesome for a port piece :)
as far as Ive experienced it, leaving triangles in gives much the same effect as zbrush, can cause pinching that can be negated but its a bit of a pain. or do you mean an entirely triangulated mesh?
Any chance some of you max pros could whip together some video tutorials on how you model this technical stuff? Mine always end up a mangled pinch-fest
I have not modeled much this year. I am trying to change that so I don't end up a zbrush hobbyist. I was wondering if I am going about this correctly for the supporting edges. In the corner I am getting this weird pinching it seems.
Take it with a pinch of salt but could be interesting. It makes perfect sense to me but then what do I know. Nintendo rumor says next console will be Android-based http://www.pcworld.com/article/2929474/crazy-nintendo-rumor-says-next-console-will-be-android-based.html
I'm now trying to figure out how to morph something like that plane to a more complex mesh without having to make splines that represent the mesh topology Also, this thing pinches at the top of the sphere pretty badly, definitely not the best way to do this, but it's fast.
Way better! Nice improvements and progress all around. One note, watch out for the pinching you're getting on the upper lip corners. You don't want that to come back and bite you in the ass later down the line when you're at a higher rez.
the eyes look really off to me, seems like they are quite small, which makes the cheek bone area look huge, also could you post some wires, seems like you have some pinching where the nose meets the forehead
Looks pretty decent for a base mesh. The only area I see that might give you some undesired pinching are all of those tri's connecting to the collar bone. Try dropping a smooth on it with a 2-3 subd levels and see what it gives you.
