So it has been awhile since I have streamed or even talked to any of you about the status of this Book. So here is an update that hopefully will ease some of the minds here and also get some of you fired up. First and foremost I want to say thanks to the artists who contributed to the project for being so calm and…
As a blender user i've found exporting a material/colour ID map quite awkward, resorting to bakes and having to enable or disable blender options to get a clean unaltered diffuse colour render. A process that is both fiddly and time consuming. By chance I came across the offical BLender uv layout addon to export the uv…
Hello. I love the 1 post per almost month thing we have going on here ;D. Will try to do a better job keeping this updated! Here are some of the things I've been up to lately. Fiddling with the lighting/ mood a bit. It's giving me a bit of a headache, not a big fan of night time lighting hehe. Have also been reworking and…
Hey there Polycounters, it’s been a long time since we posted something on here! We decided it was time for a new stylized environment piece! At the beginning of this project one of our artists initially decided to start working on a small diorama scene, with a mission to broaden her skillset and refresh our studio’s…
You got a few good pieces here, and a good foundation heading into your last semester. Here are a few things that might help you out: Your website itself needs a little love. Ditch flash because it doesn't allow people to right click then save images from it, and it just slows it down. Use a really simple layout, no bells…
^ i see. that's the logic i'm using but i think the other pieces simply aren't really better than that one. maybe i'll add some color stuff to this folder but it's lowest priority right now. --- So, i made few changes, deleted some stuff and re-arranged few pictures. There's probably still too much pics it so i'll perhaps…
hey guys, so I've been trying to set up some kind of workflow for a side project of mine and I'm more or less hitting a wall regarding level meshes management. here's the deal : I want to first create the layout of my levels using modular tiles, obviouslt, named following a specific convention. then once the levels…
@MRALO Welcome to Polycount. Consider checking out the forum information and introduction thread. The object has a lot of repetitive surface features so try breaking it down into mirrorable or tileable segments. Working on a small portion of the mesh and copying it to create the rest of the shapes tends to be more…
Yes its a complex thing that turns 3D texture painting into its own fulltime job. Not sure if its still the standard beyond creature texturing. From what I'm hearing it seems Substance has been making inroads for most types of assets and surely everyone prefers actually painting the surface directly and having full…
Novian: Start simple and build from there, try to create a workflow you like in your code. I have for instance based many of my scripts to reset onEnable so when I spawn enemies they are reset to alive and with full health etc.. This made spawning new stuff and restarting the game incredibly simple :) Javibcln: Thanks man…
