I would still like to hear from others about their thoughts on Upworks. Alot of the jobs on Upworks seem to be geared toward more practical jobs like architecture, mechanical design, and 3d printing jobs. There is not as many creative jobs like 3d animation/modeling for games and films. Since polycount is more of a…
Yeah i agree, pick a discipline and stick to showcasing that on your reel. Since this is polycount i assume modeling/texturing is what you ultimately want to show on your reel, take out your animations (all), keep your drawings (all of them) at the end or right before their corresponding 3d model and just show a quick shot…
Quick everyone grab your coffees and I'll bundle the macs into my backpack. On a more serious note, its great to see this sort of thing. I know as a "newbie" that if I am luckily enough one day to get work doing 3D, specially in games, I love the idea of leaving a little mark or something that comes back to polycount,…
Pretty excited here. Just accepted the offer! :) I've been working in 3D for 12 years but I haven't had a game job in almost 10. It kinda felt like trying to "break in" all over again with the career change. I'll be starting at Escalation Studios as a general 3D Artist and later move on to being a Character Artist it…

Theyre setting up near where I live and I fitted the role of 3D artist so Im in, just gave in my notice at my current job last week and…
Hi Polycount! I dug up a very old version of the same character I'm working on now, and compared the two. It was quite invigorating to see the drastic improvement from 4 years ago, and I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to show their first models (or at least, the earliest you still have) vs your most recent?…
Hi! This is my first post on Polycount! I have some prior 3D modeling experience in Wings3D and modding games - nothing good enough to share - and am interested in developing my skills further with the ideal goal of working in the game industry. I realize that is not always attainable and would be fine working in less…
This should be in 2D/3D forum. http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005922.html?00026 There is the link to my text to go with the videos. It explains what keyboard shortcuts i used in the videos. Also you can collapse and preserve instances if you choose "Collapse To" instead of "Collapse All".
thank you for the suggestions. hmmm well the teacher said the polycount can be whatever, it doesnt really matter since we just started taking 3d classes the pipe vent might look broken because of the angle i hope haha http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a89/chicken18/sidetank.jpg
Looks impressive indeed. Will have to try it out when I get the chance. Any more details on the 3D WebGL previewer? Also, putting more info in your post's title may help expose it to more views, this seems like it couldbe really big with a lot of Polycount's texture artists.
