Hi Polycount!
I dug up a very old version of the same character I'm working on now, and compared the two. It was quite invigorating to see the drastic improvement from 4 years ago, and I was wondering if anyone else would be willing to show their first models (or at least, the earliest you still have) vs your most recent? I already posted this in 10k on Facebook, but I'd love to see people here do the same thing too. It could potentially be really inspiring to new 3D artists who feel like there is such a huge mountain to climb in the world that is 3D modelling.
Anyways, I guess I will start off!
And here is my first ever Zbrush model... ha. 2011 I think?
Show me what you got, Polycount! Inspire me!

Good old days,,,,
I've not seen your (very) beginners work Ysalex, but your latest stuff is f*cking amazing I envy your anatomical knowledge
My advice would be to really push each and every project as far as you can take it and just keep working on it until it is really finished. Too often I see projects where people will get discouraged at a certain part and either not finish or present half-finished work.
~4/5 years ago?
~2 years ago (First model I completely concepted start to finish in 3d)
A few months ago
Current project - still a WIP .... Hopefully will finish this within a month :P
Early 2016. Character for some kind of top down stealth game.
First ever sculpt, early 2015.
Recent sculpt that I did less than a month ago.
Uhhh 08/09 I think. First thing I ever modeled and textured... Yeah I dont know either
Later that year first thing I ever normal mapped... I painted my normal maps by hand because I didnt know what zbrush was until a few months later. Still didnt know jack shit about game engines

@beefaroni Hahaha that first image is perfect, you progressed so quickly!
@MrHobo - That entire project from 2015 was baked soooo cleanly. Cool to see your older works and how much improvement your new ones are!

I believe this was my very first game res character. For all the crudeness, I did get her working rigged and animated in the Half-Life engine.
I think this chap might be my first foray into ZBrush
And this was the most recent game-res model that I'm allowed to show off.
this is around year 2000-2001 , when i was teenager, and curious of 3d ,not knowing if it useful or not
at that time.. Soa Lee already the goddess of 3d, while I was complete noob
just a fanart,
original concept art belong to ta526 http://ta526.tripod.com/ <-I cant believe his website still exist, probably i need to archive it . before something bad happen
this is now, even though I mainly work as game environment artist ( and pretty much comfortable with it ) , I keep learning and producing other things although it takes more time to do than being focus on one thing , I just love having new challenges and problem solving.
in the past 7 years I just love every aspect of game art . and so obsessed on making something completely playable ...
Not exactly my first but very close to it, say 10 made before this one.
And now my latest wip for comicon:
More stuff here for starters to look at created today for you guys/gals:

I'm still working to catch up with most of you however I had to share this horrifying relic from my past. It wasn't my first work but it's so embarrassing to remember how proud I was of this C4D Sonic the Hedgehog. Enjoy the nightmares guys :P

I never imagined it'd take me 3 years to get to this point and I still don't feel like I'm at the point where I'm hireable, time flies quick.
One of my first attempts at a head from 2011
Another one. Posting this actually kills me a little but I guess its good to let it out. This was the moment I realized I needed to study anatomy. Thank you Ryan Kingslien for saving me from this.
Sick nasty knife render with reflections. From like 2009.
Wonderful handpainted chest from before I knew about normal maps
Art contest entry from a couple months ago. Been working in AAA for about 3 years now, so if I can make it I'm pretty sure anyone can
