Sounds like as good a place as any to start. I'm pretty bad when it comes to drawing/design. Since I'm at a strictly anatomical part of the sculpt right now, I guess I'll start by copying my anatomy book page for page :B
Posing and starting to refine the anatomy. Man I LOVE the way the lower jaw protrudes in this comic. It's a nice visual cue for something abominable walking around in human skin. I think I'm capturing the look so far. It's hard tell with just the sculpt.
Thanks for the reply Zac! I have seen some animation showreels but how do you spot an amateur or junior animator showreel vs a senior more experienced animator? Like in modelling one may look at the form the fidelity the texturing, style, anatomy.
Yeah, like Brian said, we need to know where you're taking this. On another note, do you have any images of her without clothing so we can get an idea of the underlying anatomy? Are you going realistic with this or some stylisation?
Little update, I just fixed the underlying anatomy using references so i can better place the shoulder armor, ill have to redo the armor pieces because they are looking too blobby. I also fixed the cheekbones as they were a little flat.
In my opinion there is a difference between constructive criticism and saying someone needs a better grasp of anatomy that years of study will take. And -I- noticed you never noticed that I noticed and pointed out that it was all great and useful critique too. Did you notice that?
After looking at most of the meshes I would have to agree with MOP and BoBo. A serious study of anatomy needs to happen here. Are image planes being used when modeling? They can be very useful. That way your ref material is on screen as you model.
Ahh, I see. Well I am far from an established artist, but I would try to work on realistic anatomy studies first. What I ment by "bigger shapes" is for example the silhouette of the head, which is very far from anatomical correct.
Super cool TRON-like feeling on these :) I'd add a very subtle specularity to the black parts just to make them a bit more interesting (and actually show a bit of normal mapped anatomy?) but without loosing the focus on the glowing elements ! Cool project ! :D
Your anatomy looks made up and makes the character look unconvincing, since he seems to have a degree of realism to him. My best suggestion is to look up anatomical reference and study it until your eyes hurt. Then apply your findings into the sculpt.
