lol poor dale! this technique really does breathe life into models, this head is only 308 polies with a 256x256 map (modelled from photos some years ago)
I did this for a 300 level class at Ferris State University. I know the hair's crap but other than that how'd I do? any tips on future projects/ how to make hair (with out zbrush's actual hair fibers)?
The 4% came from your assertion that a subscription was half a months wages -which is about 4% of the yearly. My max licence costs around £300 a year. Not sure what that works out to in US . Probably close to 8% really.
model Day 1! Aiming for the lower end of the allowed 300 tri count with these challenges. 28 tris 256 x 256 diffuse Sometimes the thumbnail is upside down, not sure how to fix that.
Those hand-painted normals on that character are the bomb. Only 10K man-hours? I would have thought it would take 20-30K man hours to to paint a grayscale bumpmap that detailed.
Retopo is underway! Currently sitting at 17K tris, I'm hoping to keep it under or around 30k with everything included. Might be a stretch, but we'll see how it goes. Thoughts or suggestions are always welcome!
There's also a tutorial on how to do this in the MAXScript help files: http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/14/ENU/MAXScript%20Help%202012/files/GUID-6021C91D-405D-4DA9-81D9-02547B9D437-304.htm
I don't know if you guys already know this, but the intro movie is coming up as substance designer 3.2 Edit: And the tutorials page on your site is 404'ing. http://www.allegorithmic.com/tutorials/
