Split edge just separates the verts and will leave you a hard crease but doubles the vert count on those edges and Valve specifically says to try and not do that. You really just need to find the smooth groups action. Sorry I can't be of help, surprised nobody else has said how yet. I saw it mentioned in a thread a week…
It's been a while without updates, mostly because I've been trying to wrap my head around retopology but also because I've been stuck in the texturing phase for a while. I'm currently working on a grayscale version of the two that I plan to colour in later - it's just easier to see if things look good when I see them in…
the unreal forums are largely useless in my experience - although tbf so are the secret developer ones if you want any info other than stuff pertaining to getting packaging working on whichever console they broke this week you'll get a folder full of crap when you build a project - exactly what the crap is will depend on…
Extra loop mitigates this effect inside UV shell to a degree, yes. But the edges are still warped. Besides, if it was problem with geometry, I would see the same warping regardless of whether I toggle full precision UVs or not, or even in Marmoset.
Oh hello, I want to put an UV shell so that coordinates overflowing the initial 0-1 square pick up a mirrored version of the map. I have learned this is called MIRROR, where things seem to default to WRAP (maybe CLAMP?). So, where do I enable this mirroring? Using 3dsmax 2011. It's probably REALLY simple, but I can't find…
Time to start the 2012 project! Well one of them at least. I was looking through my portfolio and figured I should do a building asset that is built with a ton of tileable bits and pieces. I'm hoping this will be a huge learning experience for me since I haven't had to build to many things that are tileable or modular in…
Hi everyone, I'm a concept artist and illustrator with experience working on games, comic books, websites, and more. I recently wrapped up a major project and wanted to introduce myself here. The gaming space is one I really enjoy—it’s full of opportunities to create stunning, immersive visuals that bring stories and…
I thought I'd try my hand at a weapon skin set for the medic of bandage wrapped weapons. Band-Aid grips, blood soaked gauze wraps, maybe even kiss marks over scrapes and scratches on the gun. Suture and stitches and staples aren't out of the question either, though they may prove to be going a bit far. There's a lot of…
Hey, your pictures take a really long time to load, and I would probably get rid of the home page and just make the main page your gallery page so people can see all your artwork immediately. Imo your picture tabs would be better just typed out, "Gallery", or "Resume", so dumb people like me don't get confused looking for…
The weird folds around the knees are caused by the improper shape of the 2D pattern inside Marvelous Designer. The shape of the pattern should closely follow and wrap around the shape of the 3D avatar, which is especially true for jeans. I suspect that the patterns should have a small depression around the knees to tighten…
