I got excited with max 7 due to the normal mapping and the same for max 8 for the relax feature. Is it me or are all the other tools in Max like Patches and Nurbs exactly the same as in version 4. I think the only update to patches is that you can shift drag on them to extrude edges, but that's it. Skin modifier got some… -

Mmh wouldn't you just have to specify the proper ratio in the unwrap.pack spacing ? If you get the resolution of your map, let's say 2048, and want a padding of 8 pixels, set spacing to 8/2048 (0.004) Also take a look at http://www.polytools3d.com/polyunwrapper/index.html It's a nice tool, and it packs by pixel. i'm having this problem with max 2012 as well, jumping from max 8. it's extremely annoying.. max 8: hold down MMB to pan, hold down alt+mmb, rotate view. max 2012 x64: hold down MMB to pan, hold down alt+mmb cancels pan. press mbb again to rotate. extremely annoying.. -

Well Zbrush really eats up ram, try upgrading to 4 or 8 gigs, you can easily find a 8 gig kit for under $45. It's really easy to install, even if you don't know much about computers. In the task manager, how much ram does it say is being used when working in Zbrush?
