An SSD doesnt need to be huge tho - You'd be better off putting only your installs on it, and everything else on a regular drive... just like you plan to :) Except, it doesnt need to be huge. I'm using dif, spec & gloss for this model and rendering in TB2. Is it the material around the screen that you are referring to? The way I’ve done animated skyboxes is with a custom shader setup. This avoids performance problems from overdraw, makes sure skybox lighting is confined to only affecting the skybox, and generally optimizes everything. ZBrush: Panning in projection master
In ZBrush when you place your model in projection mode it is temporarily dropped to canvas and effectively becomes 2.5d until you pick it up. assuming the material on that pillar is diffuse spec normal maps you'd be surprised. It could be all of 256, it may be more like 512. Whatever it actually is, no matter how big it really is, it's only displaying avout 256x256 mipmap in that view, if the screen is downsized from say 1680x1050, it would be using like a 512… -

MUdbox gives you weird results at more than regular screen sizes because of the AO screen filter (apparently it takes a sample for each screen space so and they show up as noticeable tiles. try use the cavity Ao and another Cavity AO set to be more like regular AO. and dont use the regualr AO at all. its workaround i use…
