Thanks for the tutorial! u definitely need to make more in the future. How did you create your skin texture? handpainted or a mix of handpaint and images?
That's not a requirement of a handpainted art style. All it really needs is a hand drawn or painterly aspect to the textures. Full bright handpainted textures are kinda their own thing.
Most handpainted assets assume a point or direction light that comes from directly above, or "high noon" in terms of sun position. Handpainting assets is more or less just learning how to paint well. If you learn how to paint, you'll learn how to handpaint 3D models.

As the title says, this is my first try on handpainted. I am not actually good at drawing, but I wanted to try the technique in the first Vertex, so I did the Brickwork. It is not perfect for tiling, but as I said, I made it mostly for fun. Critics welcome! Might do some more handpaint in the future.
