@CyberNomad Cool to see someone tackle the hardsurface concept. What's your overall approach? Curious what's happening with the shading. Do the screenshots show the model with baked maps? I think it helps doing some kind of blockout first to establish large proportions and overall scale. But with separate elements, scaling…
I really want to thank all of you friends and masters for your time that you spared on my work. After first returns I considered my weakspots and as a hardsurface artist I faced that I was weak at the boolean and sculpting workflows. Then decided to model a revolver and tried to develop boolean skills on the roller part…
Check out ADN Tools and Crease Plus: https://gumroad.com/l/adntools https://gumroad.com/l/CreasePlus Also boolean + Dynamesh(Zbrush) is a lovely way doing hard surface highpolys. http://polycount.com/discussion/168610/proboolean-dynamesh-hardsurface-workflow-tutorial/p1
Hi, my name is leonid, I am 3d/texture artist with focus in hardsurface assets I would be interested in doing props and Environment work my portfolio - http://www.lkuzyakin.com/ i charge 30 dollars an hour I would be glad hearing back from you
Yeah I've been working with Maya for about a year now, though, hardsurface modeling just feels more paced and natural in Max for me. Just my taste ;) Also, extended mags are being served! They don't look like airsoft mags to me anymore :D
Every day so far. That said, it's character art so it's a given. I've never been a fan of hardsurface in Maya, despite that being the best way to do it, so I usually sculpt all of my details and stuff in zBrush (making it my most used program).
Hardsurface environment is quite a nice! No idea who the artist is? EDIT: I did some research, it's a map called Factory 501, from a game called Skyforge. The artist should be him: https://www.artstation.com/dmitrysmirnov but I'm not 100% sure. Can't find the concept artist though.
Finally figured out how to make nice and fine hardsurface on Zbrush I've also reworked the chest, his face, his pants and few other things Also if you know how to make nice looking fur for the boots let me know your tips :)
I did increase the size of his head a bit. Also remade his shoes with hardsurface. Separated coat from from sleeves. STILL NOT HAPPY with left sleeve wrinkles :( I quite like his right sleeve, but his left sleeve is so much trouble >_< "
Heyo! Regarding "skills vs software", I believe skills are more specific than software knowledge and therefore can target a job profile in more detail. E.g. if you were to apply for a weapon artist position, the skill hardsurface modeling directly relates to the job. In the end you could have both categories, skills and…
